The Medina County Drug Task Force recognizes that in order to be truly successful in any law enforcement endeavor, the support and assistance of the general public is essential.
To create greater societal awareness about the dangers and prevalence of drug abuse in Medina County, the task force offers free speaking engagements for our schools and local community groups. If your organization is interested in receiving this free training, please contact us at (330) 725-9181.
D.U.M.P. Program – Dispose of Unused Medications Properly
The Medina County D.U.M.P. Program (Dispose of Unwanted Medicine Properly) is funded by the Medina County Anti-Drug Levy and was designed to offer residents a safe, easy way to dispose of any unwanted medications. Items can be taken to one of the twelve D.U.M.P. Box locations in the county for destruction, no questions asked. See below for locations, all of which are permanent. A printable copy can also be found by Clicking Here
Please remember the following when preparing your items for disposal:
- Mark out your name, address, and any other identifying information.
- Secure the containers in a zip-close bag.
- Please note that the D.U.M.P. Boxes are for pills, capsules, and powders only.
- Syringes and Liquids CANNOT be accepted.
- To dispose of syringes: Place needles in a hard plastic bottle, such as a bleach or laundry bottle. You can also purchase a sharps disposal box if you would prefer. Seal the cap on tightly with duct tape and label the bottle “Danger – Needles Inside.” Place the bottle in a tied trash bag and dispose of it in a trash can.
- To dispose of liquids: Mix the liquid with something undesirable, such as used coffee grounds or cat litter. This makes the medicine less appealing to children and pets and unrecognizable to someone who might intentionally go through the trash looking for drugs. Put the mixture into something you can close to prevent it from spilling out, like an empty coffee can, and dispose of it in a trash can.
